A LLANDEILO woman has helped deliver a young girl living with a brain condition her dream birthday.

Sophie Washington, from Llandeilo, worked with the charity, Rays of Sunshine, to a throw a princess themed birthday bash for nine-year-old Blisse Mellens.

Blisse is currently living with Periventricular Nodular Hetertopia and Polymicrogyria, a condition that causes abnormal development of the brain.

Due to her condition, Blisse suffers with epilepsy and uses a manual wheelchair. She also suffers from movement disorders that restrict her from walking, talking and eating.

Despite that, Blisse has a very active imagination and loves bright colours, lights and listening to music, especially Disney.

To make her wish of having a big Disney Princess party become a reality, Rays of Sunshine Wish ambassador, Sophie, worked closely with Blisse’s family to organise a day full of bright Disney Princess fun.

She was joined by all of Blisse’s friends and family, as well as Rapunzel, Belle, Ariel and Elsa who all made an appearance.

There was also face painting, balloon modelling, and a special soft play area where Blisse was able to play with the princesses out of her wheelchair.

Blisse’s mum, Laura said: “Each birthday is a milestone for Blisse and even though she was struggling with her seizures on the day and wasn’t feeling too well I am so grateful to have lovely pictures of her and all her friends.

“The entertainment was amazing and all the children enjoyed it.

“I can’t thank Sophie and Rays of Sunshice enough for allowing us toahve a fabulous birthday that we will always treasure.”

Sophie added: “It was an absolute pleasure to help organise Blisse’ wish. I’d like to say a massive thank you to Fantasia and Melody Meadows, also known as Belle and Rapunzel, and photographer Charlie Dearman for giving up their time to make Blisse’s wish come true.

“I couldn’t have done it without you all. Rays of Sunshine is an incredible charity, and I’m honoured to be part of it.”
