One of the key landmarks in Ammanford is in danger closing following a lack of committee members.

The Amman Civic Hall was re-launched three years ago and has recently undergone extensive internal and external renovation and decoration work.

The final phase of renovation work is planned to take place at the end of October.

A spokesperson for the hall said: “The building now greets all those who come along with a bright and fresh exterior leading into a clean and modern interior which is perfect for any event ranging from weddings, parties, school re-unions, pantomimes, formal dinners, meetings, exercise classes, the list is endless.

“The main hall can seat up to 120 guests for dining and enjoys a licensed bar both in the main hall and also in the upstairs lounge.

“The Civic Hall can accommodate guests in a choice of rooms ranging from the main hall, an upstairs lounge on the first floor and a conference room also on the first floor.”

The current Board of Directors are now looking to attract new committee members to run the business and bring new ideas of how to take the Civic Hall forward into 2019.

“Unfortunately, unless new committee members are found before the end of 2018, the Amman Centre Community Venture, the business that trades out of the Amman Civic Hall, will have no alternative than to close down at the end of the next financial year on March 31 2019,” the spokesperson added.

“The Civic Hall has enjoyed very loyal support from its regular groups, but we really need the support of the wider community to help take the business forward.”

The board would like to welcome anyone who feels that they can bring something that would benefit the business.

New members would be purely on a voluntary basis and would need to attend quarterly director meetings and take on the running of the Amman Centre Community Venture business.
