The last six months for Lian Cara Poulson have been a whirlwind.

From hosting her very first fashion show in Myddfai to being featured in British Vogue magazine, the 24-year-old from Llandovery has been going from strength to strength with her business Lian Cara Designs.

Lian has recently taken part in the prestigious London Fashion Week where she was able to show off her creations in front of hundreds of fashionistas.

“It was such an honour to be asked to take part in London Fashion Week. I felt like it was such an achievement to be there,” said Lian.

“The atmosphere backstage was amazing. I had two interns working with me from Carmarthen School of Art and University of Trinity St David who were a god send.

“10 pieces from my ready to wear collection were walked down the catwalk at an off-schedule event and it was really nice to have feedback from people who I haven’t met before.

“They seemed to like the Welsh story behind my designs and thought the ideas and colours were refreshing.”

Fashion Finest UK invited Lian to be involved in the fashion event where the designer got to walk down the catwalk herself as well as host her own pop-up show.

“I sold a few pieces at the pop-up show which was surreal as that was the first time I sold my work to someone I didn’t know, but I really enjoyed introducing people to my designs and my story,” the former Carmarthen School of Art student added.

The designer will be taking part at Birmingham Fashion Festival later this month and will be joining Mari Thomas Jewellery at an event in Cowbridge this November.

Lian, who was recently nominated for the Young Entrepreneur of the Year award at the Wales Start Up Awards, added: “I feel so lucky that I am able to keep the production and the design process in Wales.

“I work from my home studio which was my dining room.”
