A PUBLIC march is set to take place in order to campaign against controversial proposals which could see hospital beds removed from Amman Valley Hospital.

The Amman Valley Hospital Action Committee are planning a protest in August to show Hywel Dda University Health Board the opposition that there is to their plans.

The march will take place on Saturday, August 4 at 11am.

It will start at Raven Park and head towards Cwm Park.

There is also a meeting of the Amman Valley Hospital Action Committee on Thursday at 8pm at the Community Centre in Glanamman, where the plans will be discussed further.

Councillor Kevin Madge, chairman of the action committee, said: “We have to show the health board just how much we value Amman Valley Hospital in this area.

“It is a vital facility for a large proportion of this population.

“We are planning this mass demonstration in August to show just that, the strength of feeling that we have to protect the hospital and its beds.

“They should be improving services in the Amman Valley, not cutting them back. We will not be giving up on this fight.”
