A LLANDEILO builder has helped an ill child’s greatest wish come true.

LBS Builders, in Llandeilo, helped children’s charity Rays of Sunshine give 12-year-old Dylan Bethell his dream bedroom.

Dylan is currently living with Primary Pulmonary Lymphangiectasis, an extremely rare condition that has left him with just 40 per cent lung capacity.

He has experienced numerous medical interventions throughout his life, yet remains a positive and cheerful boy.

Dylan’s greatest wish was to have a Lego bedroom makeover.

A design was created by an engineer and a bespoke and original design Lego bed was made incorporating Lego brick steps up to the cabin with a desk and shelf unit.

His bed was made up with Lego bedding and pyjamas were placed under his pillow.

A backpack lunchbox and water bottle was put on his desk ready for school.

Underneath his desk was a special storage bench filled to the top with thousands upon thousands of Lego bricks.

A large pillow for the box, special cuddle cushion and brightly coloured bunting were handmade by Sophie, the wish organiser, and her trusted sewing machine.

A fabulous mosaic of Dylan is currently being built by the staff at Lego UK HQ and will take pride of place when it is completed very soon.

Sophie Washington from Llandeilo, Rays of Sunshine Wish Ambassador and organiser of Dylan’s wish said: “It was an absolute pleasure to make this lovely boy’s wish come true. It was a wonderful day and brought together the efforts of many people involved helping to make this wish a reality.

“Huge thanks go to Ian Moore at Lego UK HQ and Phil Evans at HS Bassett & Sons in Swansea for their magnificent generosity in their donations to the project.

“Also sincere thanks go to LBS Builders, Llandeilo, for discounted paint supplies and our lovely builder, Meirion, and talented photographer, Charlie.”
