RESIDENTS in Tycroes are concerned about speeding, parking, littering and dog fouling in the village a report has found.

Dyfed-Powys Police carried out the survey in September, which helped them identify residents’ main worries.

PC John Hill, of Tycroes Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “I’d like to say thank you to everyone who responded to our survey.

“The feedback has helped us identify the big issues for the community: speeding, parking, littering and dog fouling.

“We’ve been in touch with the council and other partner agencies to look at the best ways to confront these issues.

“We’re also looking at a number of ways to tackle speeding, including setting up a SpeedWatch programme, but we will need the help of volunteers.

“Looking at the results, we were pleased to see most people feel safe where they live.”

Those who responded to the survey also said they wanted to see more police on the street and wanted to receive more information from the police.

In response, Dyfed-Powys Police have put more police on foot patrol in Tycroes and are promoting their free email service, Dyfed-Powys Community Messaging, which allows information to be sent by email.

“To sign up to the service visit dyfedpowyscommunitymessaging.org.

“No Cold Calling Zones” have also been set up as part of a Neighbourhood Watch initiative.

Superintendent Gary Mills added: “Work is ongoing to help us understand how people feel about policing, reassurance and safety across Carmarthenshire.

“Tycroes was the first community consultation survey of its kind to take place in the Dyfed-Powys force area.

“We’ll be holding further consultations across Carmarthenshire and the rest of the force in the coming months.

“Thank you to everyone who took part in the Tycroes survey.

“Your opinions are very important to us.”
