IT’S that time of year again.

Throughout the month of December, the South Wales Guardian is asking our readers to send in pictures of their pets dressed in their festive fancy dress.

If you enjoy dressing up your pets at Christmas, then why not share your pictures with us?

As part of our Festive Pets competition, The Guardian will be showing your best pet pictures in the next edition and in our online gallery.

We had an excellent response to last year’s appeal, with plenty of readers keen to show off their scaly, feathery and furry friends getting into the Christmas spirit.

So if your pet is happy to wear some reindeer antlers or a festive outfit, share them with us.

Email your pictures to news@southwalesguardian.co.uk or share them with us via our Facebook and Twitter accounts, and there will be a prize for the winner.

You can find us on Twitter by following @SWGuardian or on Facebook by searching South Wales Guardian.

The winner of last year’s Christmas pet competition was Merlin, a deer hound cross saluki cross whippet, from Pontamman.

Merlin, who is known amongst his family as Captain Chaos, was 15 months old when he won last year.

He enjoys mucking out with his owners Phil and Heather at their farm in Trap and sleeping during the afternoon.

Heather said: “We didn’t expect to win the competition.

“Merlin is so loving but is always up to mischief.”
