There was a big surprise for Holly Cook when she bought an annual ticket to the National Botanic Garden of Wales.

Holly’s purchase was a milestone moment for the Carmarthenshire attraction. It was the 10,000th membership sold since they opened in May 2000.

So, Botanic Garden bosses decided to celebrate this landmark by presenting Holly, who lives locally, with an honorary life membership.

“It was a super surprise,” said Holly.

“They put on a lovely afternoon tea for us to celebrate and presented me with a lovely bouquet of flowers from the Great Glasshouse.”

“The Botanic Garden has become a therapeutic place for me and my daughter Florence loves it.

We can happily while away a whole day there.”

Holly and Florence were joined by Holly’s mum, Carol, and her brother, Alex - who are already Garden members – to help her celebrate.

The Garden’s Membership secretary Jane Down said: “This is a marvellous milestone for the Garden and we are delighted that Holly was happy to help us mark the occasion.

"We hope they all had a great time and come back and see us again soon.”
