A 33-year-old man has been charged with false imprisonment of a 14-year-old girl in the Swansea Valley.

Marian Enache was taken into custody following an incident which took place near the Wind Road area in Ystradgynlais on Friday, October 27 at around 4.40pm.

Dyfed-Powys Police Superintendent, Jon Cummins, said: “Thanks to the swift and professional response of officers investigating the incident of attempt abduction in Ystradgynlais on Friday afternoon.

"A man was arrested shortly after the incident was reported, and he has now subsequently been charged.

“We are very grateful to the community for their positive response to our appeal and the information they supplied has played a crucial part in assisting the investigation.

“I would like to reassure the community that we are not seeking anyone else in connection with this and offences of this nature are fortunately uncommon.

“This was an isolated incident. Neighbourhood Policing Teams are conducting extra reassurance patrols in the area and if anyone has any concerns please talk to them.

“Specialist officers are continuing to support the victim, and this will continue.”

Enache will appear before Merthyr Magistrates Court on Monday, October 30.
