PLAID AM Rhodri Glyn Thomas has been accused of "selling his constituency down the river" after this week clocking up his 400th vote with the Tories against Rhodri Morgan's government.

Local Assembly candidate Kevin Madge says that the milestone vote - 400 votes together in the last 21 months alone - proves that a coalition between the Tories and Plaid is a "disaster waiting to happen" if people don't vote Labour on May 3.

Kevin Madge said: "Rhodri Glyn Thomas should be utterly ashamed of himself for voting with the Tories more often than he votes with Rhodri Morgan's government. What would people like Gwynfor Evans have said at the sight of Plaid and Tory AMs joining together in the Assembly?

"This is the same Tory Party which shut our pits, left thousands of families in Carmarthenshire on the scrap-heap and ignored the needs of Wales for an entire generation."

Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM hit back saying: "This is shocking hypocrisy from the Labour party.

"Only last week we saw the Labour Government voting alongside their Tory counterparts to divert billions of pounds of public money away from the NHS and police services to renew the Trident nuclear weapons system - something the Labour party pledged they would never do.

Mr Thomas added: "I am not prepared to support a Labour government that has continually broken its promises and has cut back on public services, threatening job losses and health cuts in the constituency."
