EUROPE's largest manufacturer of uPVC windows, based in Hendy, has purchased new premises and land worth £1.155million in Capel Hendre.

Victorian Sliders' newly-acquired 12-acre site will open towards the end of 2014 with the company securing planning permission for another 100,000 sq ft extension of the new premises.

The company has seen phenomenal growth since it was founded in 2005, and now makes more than 1,400 uPVC vertical sliding sash windows every week.

The company saw an annual turnover of almost £8million last year, and following recent investment in new premises, now expects to grow by more than 50 per cent by the end of 2014.

Manufacturing its own uPVC window systems on-site, as well as toughened glass sealed units, assembling the windows, and checking its products for quality and energy efficiency.

The business originally operated from three sites in the Hendy area until Scot Starkey, chairman of Victorian Sliders, purchased a new 100,000 sq ft base.

The extra space will able the firm to increase its capacity while it continues to grow.

Managing director Brendan McCambridge said: “These new premises will enable Victorian Sliders to further expand our operations, and increase the number of staff we employ, to support continued rising orders.

“We now plan to continue our organic growth and are developing further strategies to make a more significant impact in to the European market.

“The help we have received from Lloyds Bank has been essential when putting our investment plans in place.

“The new premises offer more space and bring all of our operations into one location.”

Jonathan Richards, relationship director, Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, said: “Victorian Sliders is one of many manufacturers in Wales with ambition for growth and it is great that Lloyds Banking Group was able to tailor a package to suit its needs.

“The UK is currently the 11th largest manufacturing nation in the world and there’s a range of support we have available to help business ventures like Victorian Sliders.

“Whether starting up or taking their next steps to growth, and through the Funding for Lending Scheme we offer businesses a discount of one per cent for the life of the loan.”
