AN AMMANFORD opticians is offering a brand new tablet computer to whoever can carve the most spooktacular pumpkin this Halloween.

Specsavers on Quay Street is giving away a 16GB Acer tablet (RRP is £129.99) for the most creatively carved pumpkin.

It is free to enter the competition but participants must supply their own pumpkins. The competition closes on Tuesday, November 5.

On Friday, November 1, the store will be transforming into ‘Spookysavers’ for the day, with staff in fancy dress, a cake sale a raffle and face painting for children on offer.

All money raised will be donated to Velindre Cancer Care.

Store director, Samuel Hodson, says: ‘Halloween is a real community event and at Specsavers, we like to be at the heart of our community.

‘Our pumpkin carving competition will give people the chance to get creative, and whoever comes up with the most grizzly or gruesome creation has the chance to win a really great prize!

‘On the day itself we will have plenty of activity taking place in-store so feel free to pop in for a cake or two.’
