A cracking programme featuring top-quality live shows is promised as Carmarthenshire Theatres place children’s theatre centre stage this Easter.

From dark operettas to jazz-playing animals, cuddly koalas to balloon tamers and high octane High School Rock – not to mention Postman Pat, who’ll be doing his rounds in the Lyric – there’s something for everyone.

At Ammanford Miners’ Theatre, the “egg-cellent” Theatre Hullabaloo and Action Transport Theatre will performing their new production My Mother Told Me Not To Stare on April 3.

This captivating story about breaking all the old wives’ tales–style rules presented as a deliciously dark operetta-style is for both curious children and their grown-ups. Tickets are £5.50 - £6.50.

Jazz-playing animals? Who’d have thought? Well, The Rude Mechanical Theatre Company has and it will be presenting the Grimm Brothers’ hilarious and tender tale The Musicians Of Bremen, with a special commedia dell’arte twist April 9.

This triumph over adversity charmer features live music and is suitable for children aged 3-9. Tickets are £5.50-£6.50.

Also at the Miners’, Circo Ridiculoso and Pleasance present Lighter Than Air, a crazy children’s comedy show with a circus twist, that’ll certainly go with a bang on April 10. Enter the strange and bizarre universe of Danny Schlesinger, a wild balloon tamer who certainly puts the “loon” in balloon.

Packed to bursting point with laughs, tickets are £5-£6.

A special Miners’ Theatre offer buy for two or three children’s Easter shows and get one free. Lessons are the last thing on anyone’s minds over the holidays, but with Nett UK’s High School Rocks, having a good time is definitely on the curriculum at Llanelli’s Theatr Elli on April 9.

Featuring the very best hits from High School Musical 1, 2 and 3, Hannah Montana and Camp Rocks, High School Rocks is a foot-stomping, high-kicking and totally interactive show, led by a fantastic cast, that’ll certainly have those budding Troys, Gabriellas and Hannas dancing in the aisles. Tickets are £8.50 - £12.50.

The People’s Theatre Company will be hitting all three Carmarthenshire Theatres’ venues with their enchanting production How The Koala Learnt To Hug.

Written by the author of children’s favourites The Witch’s Bogey and The Hairy Fairy, this cuddly and cute caper features great stories, sing-a-long songs and superb games.

Tickets for the show, which hits the Lyric on April 13; Theatr Elli, on April 14 and Miners’ Theatre on April 15, are £5-£6.

Newly promoted and head of the Special Delivery Service, Postman Pat – with a little help from his trusty sidekick Jess – is back in a brand new show A Very Special Mission at the Lyric on April 17.

Meet all of Pat’s friends plus his brand new Special Delivery Service helicopter in this first-class production brought to the stage by top UK touring company Premier Stage Productions. Tickets are £10.
