History The Mansion at the top of Glyn y Mel Road was built by John Fenton at the end of the 17th century along with cottages, including Cwm Cwsgi, to house the servants. Seventy years later the estate was bought by John Worthington and it is thought that the Latin plaque was a present to him from a neighbouring squire. The Latin is unclear but the final line declares that the doors are always open to the poor. The plaque is included in the Grade II listing.
