HISTORY OF TYCANOL

The original Tycanol (now the lodge) dates back to the 18th century and was used as a family home up until the early 1960's where it was then left to ruin until it was renovated and extended in recent years to form the present 'Tycanol Lodge'. The Lodge is available by separate negotiation.

The land to the side was then built on to form the new Tycanol at the turn of the 20th century for Lady Cawdor as part of her divorce settlement which was completed in 1905, The house was built on its location and at the position to face directly westward to face the sunset, it was also her choice not to have any windows in the rear of the house, as she didn't want to look back on her husband and the marital home at Golden Grove.
