CHRISTMAS CONCERT - Denny Twp and the children of the area are busy rehearsing for their 'Christmas Cracker' concert which will be on Saturday 14 December in Carmel Hall at 7pm. Entrance £4 for adults, children free, seasonal refreshments included. Father Christmas will be there too, so come along for a fun and festive evening. REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICES - Remembrance services will take place in the village on Sunday, November 10, at the Cenotaph situated in the Cross Hands Memorial Gardens, (Llandeilo Road) with a service at 2.30pm, conducted by our Parish Associate Priest Rev Dr Brian Jones and attended by Civic Dignitaries, local council/business/organisations, service representatives and the public.

CRAFT DAY - The next coffee and craft day is this Friday in Carmel Hall. Call in for coffee or tea and biscuits any time between 10am and 3pm, only £1. Lunch snacks available at £2. Bring your own hobby or craft and share ideas with other crafters, or just call in for a chat.

The speaker is Elaine Collins who will give a talk on the work of Cerebra, a charity which helps and supports children with neurological problems. COUNTRY MUSIC DANCE NIGHT – An enthusiastic audience gathered on Tumble hall on Friday, September 27 for the monthly Gareth Lloyd Williams organised country music and dance event and enjoyed an evening of varied plus line dancing plus a programme of country music old and new, all entertained by two individual guest artists musician/vocalist Travis Logan and Andy Ash.

GRANT FUNDING - Llannon Community Council is offering up to £300 in grants towards funding schemes that are aimed at improving the development of our community. The grant scheme is designed to benefit clubs / organisations and individuals within the Council’s area. The grants can be used for facility improvements, sports, youth, hosting events, community or environmental projects etc. The scheme is intended to make a difference to local activities and projects which will in turn create new or improved opportunities. In exceptional circumstances the grant can also be provided to help towards running costs of your organisation/club. The deadline for applications for 2013/14 is October 9th 2013. The decision of the Council will be made in October 2013. NANTYGROES WI - Held their September meeting in Carmel Hall, when President Jenny Evans welcomed 25 members and two guests, Dave and Wyn. Minutes of the last meeting were read and accepted. A letter was read out from Doris, thanking everyone for her birthday wishes. Winners in the County show were congratulated, results being a first for Frances (savoury tart), second and highly commended for Dawn (floral displays) and a second for Pauline and Wendy (life size figure).

COUNTRY MUSIC NIGHT – The August country music and dance night took place at Tumble hall premises on Friday, August 23 when 2 visiting guest artists, Marty Smith and also Mike Denvor entertained the audience of musical and varied dance enthusiasts and an enjoyable evening was had by all present.

Finalised details have been submitted for the forthcoming 11th Annual Gwendraeth Valley Country Music Festival, organised as on past occasions by Gareth Lloyd Williams, but unfortunately this year, due to circumstances entirely beyond his control, the event has been shortened to two dates instead of the usual fiveand these are set as follows: Friday night (June 21) to commence at 8pm, doors open at 7pm and on Saturday night (June 22) to commence at 7pm with doors open from 6pm- both events are to take place at Tumble Hall premises.

The annual Gwendraeth valley country music festival is being organised by Gareth Lloyd Williams, for the 10th year, and is scheduled to occur atTumble hall over the three days of Friday, June 15, Saturday 16, and Sunday 17.

It is understood that the lack of village- sited dog litter bins, from our surrounding village area, frequented by dog-walkers and not solely the parks, reported to both Llannon community council and Carmarthen county council personnel, some weeks ago, has in fact been raised at the last community council meeting and was requested to be relayed to the county council parks department. No definite result on the matter has been received from the county council to date and further enquiries are being made to pursue this overall area and overlooked village problem.

The County Council will be undertaking detached youth work in Cross Hands on Monday evenings - look out for the youth workers in the subway area of the village, advice and support on a range of issues available from qualified youth workers.

Whist players gathered in the village on Monday, January 31, to participate in their weekly whist drive matches, organised by the Cross Hands bowls club members. The evening match results were: Top score, G Thomas; Top Gent: A Smith; Top Lady: J Foster; Booby: T Dolan; Longest Sitter: T Morgan. Raffle winners: M Evans and S Harries.
