3:10pm Thursday 28th January 2010
Chair welcomed members to the meeting on January 20, which had been cancelled the previous two weeks due to weather conditions.
It was announced that a previous club member, Val Smith, had passed away and one minutes’ silence was held in remembrance. Nona Phillips is now in Amman Valley hospital and was wished a speedy recovery.
Sherry and mince pies were served to members, and helpers were thanked for the arrangements made.
A talk was given by representatives from Communities First, who described the various organisations which received their support for both young and old. One of the organisations was dealing with the matter of two ‘World War II’ air raid shelters which could be made suitable for allowing schools to visit these buildings as part of the current World War II projects taking place this year.
These shelters are situated in the village of Pantyffynnon.
Communities First were thanked for their talk which was most interesting.
Following the club meeting on January 27, a committee meeting will be held.
