Capel Hendre OAP association

The first meeting of 2009 was held on March 3 in the vestry of Capel Hendre Chapel.

The meeting was chaired by Mr Bryn Jones, who welcomed the members and commenced the meeting by leading the members in reciting the Lords prayers in Welsh.

There were many apologies many members and their families were unwell and some members had just returned from hospital. Get well wishes were extended to all of them. Mr Bryn Jones then extended a warm welcome to new members.

Mr Howard Francis was wished a happy birthday, congratulations were also extended to Mr Islwyn Davies on his 85th birthday, the members congratulated Clyde and Joan Evans on their forthcoming Golden Wedding Anniversary. The members were reminded that the April meeting will be the AGM and explained the way that the officers and committee would be elected by the members this year.

Bryn brought to the attention of the members of the new telephone and internet scams, that were around and warned members to be alert and vigilant regarding these messages. Following the club business we were entertained by Côr Persain to a wonderful concert of Welsh Songs, some well known but arranged with different tunes, Bryn asked the choir if they would do an encore and chose the old favourite Calon Lân, sung to the tune of 'the Rose' which the choir duly obliged. Both choir and members joined together in a sumptuous buffet after what had been an enjoyable performance by the choir, who were duly thanked by Mr Howard Francis. The wonderful buffet was provided by the members and was co-ordinated by Mrs Joan Evans. Members and committee were thanked by Bryn for their participation in providing such a wonderful buffet, thanks were extended to the members activities in the kitchen. The next meeting, which will be the AGM will be on April 7 at 7pm at the vestry of Capel Hendre Chapel.
