The group met on the October 6 and 16 members enjoyed a social afternoon. A new member, Kay, was welcomed to the club. Best wishes went to those who were unable to attend through illness, all are wished a speedy recovery. Condolences were sent to Lawrence and family on their recent bereavement. Raffle prizes were donated by two members and winners were Elizabeth and Evelyn. Tea was served by Rosalie, Cliff, Angela and Eva after which three games of bingo were enjoyed. The next meeting will be held on 20th October 2.30 pm. at Llys yr Ysgol.

Art lovers will be interested to note that the Three Towns Exhibition of paintings is once again to be held at Ammanford. The exhibition will feature 80 paintings by members of three art societies - Carmarthen Sketch Club, Llanelli Art Society and Amman Valley Art Group.

On Friday, October 30 at 7.30pm Miners’ Theatre, Ammanford and district arts club presents a warmly drama and musical evening depiciting the friendship between Daniel Jones and Dylan Thomas. Tickets can be obtained from the box office, £10 (£8 to arts club members).

Un ohonynt oedd ofn bygythiad yr Arlywydd Reagan i sefydlu y ‘Star War Technology’ a allai saethu i lawr holl daflegrau yr Undeb Sofietaidd ymhell cyn iddynt gyrraedd eu targedau, ac yn ail cri mamau Rwsia yn erbyn y bagiau cyrff (‘body bags’) a ddychwelai yn gyson o Afghanistan pan roedd Rwsia yn ymladd yno. Gwers efallai i ni ym Mhrydain heddiw. Diolchodd Trefor Evans, Llandybie i’r prif westai am araith a agorodd ein llygaid i lawer o bethau nad oeddam wedi meddwl amdanynt.

The October meeting was held at the Indoor Bowling club with the President Derrick Bithray in the chair. The club heard a talk on Mining in South Wales by Mr Cliff Jones, who has spent many years in the Mining Industry. The subject was of intense interest to members living in a locality which until recent times was the centre of Coal Mining in the area.
