At the club meeting on January 31 under the presidency of Vivian Preece, two new members - Roland Jones and Clive Morris were welcomed to the club.
Social secretary Derrick Bithray, announced that this year the St David’s Day lunch will be on February 28 and the residential Dinner at the White Hart Hotel onMay 17.
The guest speaker at this meeting was Isabel Macho, Biodiversity Officer for Carmarthenshire Council who gave an excellent lucid, well appreciated talk on the Biodiversity of Carmarthenshiremakinggood use of local coastal and river valley illustrations as examples of the work of her department, especially the flora and fauna in those areas under threat from various causes endemic in our times.
Heilig Jones, a former biology teacher/lecturer himself, gave a vote of thanks endorsing our appreciation of a very valuable talk.
At the next meeting on February 14 the Rev John Walters will speak on ‘Old Welsh Sports’ and there will be a club dinner for those not so old ‘Welsh Sports’ who stay afterwards.
