A tribute concert held in memory of a former Ammanford stage school teacher has raised over £5,500 for Wales Air Ambulance.

The event took place on June 17 at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman to remember Rebecca Evans, who was tragically killed in November last year.

Encore principal Elin Wyn Murphy arranged the evening and a host of singing stars performed at the concert.

Elin said: “It was a tremendous evening and it exceeded our expectations.

“We were honoured to have Becca's family there and also Becca's partner and family.

“The pilot from WAA also attended and it was a very special moment when he stood on the stage and the whole audience applauded him for his services.

“I would like to thank everybody who made the night a success and to each person who contributed to the £12,000 total we have raised so far since the accident.

“The biggest thanks must go to all the children of Encore who have shown great courage and determination through this very difficult period. They have been the backbone of all the money raised.”

The next challenge for Encore is the Cardiff Half Marathon on October 1.

Encore Stage School have a team and at the moment there are around 15 people running.
