MARVEL’S latest superhero adventure, Avengers: Age Of Ultron, has conquered the UK and global box offices.

Joss Whedon’s sequel to 2012′s Avengers Assemble, starring Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner, has recorded the biggest opening weekend of 2015 and the biggest April opening of all time, surpassing Fast And Furious 7.

The plot sees Tony Stark try to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping programme, but things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance.

As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for a global adventure.

On Saturday (April 25) alone, it set a new record for the biggest single day for a Marvel or Disney film, and the biggest ever single day opening for a superhero movie with box office takings of £6.18 million.

It now looks set to succeed the 2012 movie, which took £51.9 million at the UK box office.

Fast And Furious 7, which features Paul Walker’s final big-screen outing, was previously the most successful opening in the UK, with box office takings of £15.6 million.

Avengers: Age Of Ultron (12A) is now showing in Brynaman cinema in 3D and 2D until May 7 every night at 7.15pm (not Sunday) with Matinees on Saturday and Sunday and May day (Monday) at 3pm.
