SHE’S no Great Dane but Mavis the Jug becomes Scooby Doo as she joins God's Hi-Five Youth Church to investigate mysterious happenings in Golden Grove.

The group will prepare to celebrate Easter with a Mystery Hunt, complete with a real mystery machine, in which they follow a trail of clues across the Towy Valley searching for signs that will lead them to uncover the mystery of the Holy Spirit.

The aim is to provide a fun and exciting way for young people to learn about the Bible and the Easter story - and get Easter Eggs in the process!

The young people, aged 10-15, will use the Bible to discover clues that lead them to fun challenges which take them on a spooky journey of discovery between the churches of Golden Grove and Llangathen as they become 'Mystery Incorporated' for the evening.

Rev'd Sulin Milne, who started the youth church a year ago said: "Our young people have been discovering that faith is a journey, and one to be engaged in with their minds as well as their hearts. Although many aspects of God are mysterious, he invites us to get to know him better.

“The young people that come to us not only have a lot of fun but are visibly gaining confidence not only in the way they express their faith but in the way they live their lives."

Rev Sulin's daughter Elfrida, who is in on the Easter surprise, said: "Youth Church is a great opportunity to learn about God and have fun. I am excited about the Easter hunt, I think everyone will be talking about this for a long time!"

The event takes place at 7pm on Friday, March 27, starting at Golden Grove Church Hall.

The Youth Church is part of the Catheiniog benefice and young people from Golden Grove, Court Henri, Llanfynydd, Llanarthne, Bethlehem, Carmel and Ammanford attend.

It runs in Golden Grove on alternate Fridays from 7-8.30pm. All are welcome aged from aged 11-16.
