To be invited along to help celebrate Welsh culture at the most magical place on earth was a dream come true for Guardian reporter Clare Snowdon.

To mark the beginning of spring, Disneyland Paris celebrates all things Welsh with a fun-packed festival weekend.

I hopped on a flight from Cardiff with my 13-year-old daughter Chloe to take the short trip to Paris – it really is quicker than you think – and the magic starts the minute you step out of the transfer car and walk into your Disney hotel.

We stayed in the resort’s Hotel New York, and it did not disappoint.

Our first taste of Wales was when we entered our beautiful spacious room, where we were greeted with a gorgeous bouquet of daffodils and a delightful gift of Mickey and Minnie Mouse dolls on our pillows.

We didn’t hang about in our room for long before we set out into the parks, just a short walk from the hotel.

Browsing through the Disney village we came across an abundance of stalls selling all things Welsh – from honey, jam, leather handbags and wine stalls to the real taste of home – Welsh cakes!

We made our way towards Disneyland park, through the pink Disneyland hotel before stepping out onto the world famous Main Street.

The moment you step onto the street you are awash with emotion, taking you right back to your childhood.

I believe the most cynical will be amazed by that magical feeling you get walking, no skipping, through the happiest place on earth. The purpose of our trip of course was to see the taste of Wales, and Disney did not disappoint.

Frontierland was transformed into a Welsh wonderland, a sea of red, white and green – complete with dragons and daffodils.

Welsh performers took to the stage alongside Goofy, including our very own Eisteddfod winner Cadi Lois Owen from Betws, who belted out Fi di’r Deinosor (I am the Dinosaur).

Cadi also too part in the magical Disney parade–- a real spectacle with all your favourite Disney characters, including Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty, Tigger, and of course Frozen’s Elsa and Anna.

Disney favourites Mickey and Minnie Mouse got in on the Welsh action dressing in full traditional costume – Chloe and I even managed a meet and greet with the pair – a highlight for me.

Over the weekend we made use of our fast passes and took in all the rides – ok, Chloe will be reading this, not all rides – there was no chance I was getting on Tower of Terror, even the name sends shivers down my spine.

I did, however, brave Thunder Mountain in Adventureland, a rollercoaster that took you deep underground, plunging into darkness – that is as thrill seeking as I get I’m afraid.

My favourite ride has to be It’s a Small World, a boat ride that takes you around the globe singing in merriment –just beautiful.

The highlight of my weekend had to be the Disney Dreams spectacular, shown every night before the park closes its gates, the state of the art show uses projectors to light up the iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle – with every tower providing a canvas to take you through a dream of all your favourite movies to sing along, from Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin and my favourite, The Lion King.

Completing the scene, the castle is framed with fireworks and laser lights, and for one weekend only, the Welsh dragon is projected onto the castle – a beautiful sight.

Bursting with emotion I couldn’t think of anyone better to watch it with than my own little princess.
