There is far more to Carmarthenshire than most people realise – and to celebrate all that is great about this glorious corner of Wales a whole month of fun is set to celebrate the events, activities and businesses the county has to offer.

Throughout March, a campaign will raise awareness of the delights which can be found On Your Doorstep.

The campaign will showcase many of the amazing attractions which makes Carmarthenshire unique.

Three special events will take place in town centres as part of the scheme, starting in Ammanford on February 28 before moving on to Carmarthen on March 7 and Llanelli on March 14.

County businesses are invited to come along to show off their goods and services, and companies with activities involving arts and crafts or sports are invited to add to the entertainment and excitement.

There will also be live broadcasts from all three locations on Radio Carmarthenshire and an intensive promotional campaign will run in partnership with local media to help boost awareness.

On Your Doorstep is being run by Carmarthenshire County Council in partnership with Carmarthenshire Tourist Association and is part-funded by the Welsh Government’s Regional Tourism Engagement Fund. The campaign coincides with Wales Tourism Week which takes place in March, but the Carmarthenshire campaign will last for the month.

Carmarthenshire County Council’s leisure and events executive board member Councillor Meryl Gravell said: “Quite simply, there is far too much going on in Carmarthenshire, and far too many attractions to fit into just seven days.

“We want to use this opportunity to showcase our wonderful county, and give local businesses the chance to promote themselves as part of it.

“Sometimes, we forget just how wonderful the attractions on our doorstep are, we don’t need to travel to Spain for beautiful beaches or to Italy to dine in style, we have everything right here.

“We hope this campaign will remind people who live and work in Carmarthenshire that they do, in fact, have everything on their doorstep, and encourage them to visit and support local attractions and businesses.”
