A TOWY Valley farmer was fined £15 after being caught red-handed by water bailiffs while carrying a gaff and a giant salmon.

He told magistrates: “I wasn’t after salmon because I have no interest in fish, I was searching for a cow.”

LLANDEILO council slammed "the utterly ridiculous" law demanding motorists living in a town cul-de-sac be forced to leave their car lights on in their vehicles overnight.

The chief constable said: “This is becoming a real nuisance," the chief constable reported. "People are parking outside their neighbours' homes all night instead of outside their own."

ENTHUSIASM over Ammanford’s new £300 Christmas lights reached fever-pitch at the town council’s December meeting.

The delighted council chairman said: “The illuminations are the nicest we have had in the town for quite some time.

HUNDREDS of Llandeilo residents were mopping out their homes after the town was hit by the worst floods in 40 years.

AFTER just one week, Carmarthenshire County Council's finance committee decided to withdraw a ban on house loans to tenants.

The previous week the council had refused applications from nine householders who sought loans to amounting to £10,000.
