Bradford Bulls may have another two weeks to avoid liquidation
Administrator Brendan Guilfoyle has told Bradford fans he is hoping to have an extra fortnight to prevent the Bulls from being liquidated.
Guilfoyle, who earlier on Monday made 15 staff redundant, had originally given himself until Friday to find a buyer, which put Sunday's Stobart Super League fixture with London Broncos in doubt.
After this weekend, the administrator must find around £200,000 to pay the players' wages and is confident, after meeting the Rugby Football League on Monday afternoon, that they will advance him the club's next scheduled central payment to cover the cost. Guilfoyle said: "They have said they will let us have the money if it is directed towards paying wages."
He added: "They are very supportive of what I'm trying to achieve."
Guilfoyle says that could give him up to July 19 at the latest to find new investment.
The Bulls went into administration a week ago after the club's directors failed to raise the £1.2million they say was needed to see them through to the end of the season.
Guilfoyle, who was accompanied by sports lawyer David Hinchcliffe, a Bulls fan, told supporters he had been "dealt a very poor set of cards".
"I never expected to be appointed as administrator," he said. "I was asked to carry out a financial review and lend my name to the club's intention to appoint an administrator.
"That was to give the directors a 21-day moratorium to find investment but, to my horror, they failed.
"I have to say I have been dealt a very poor set of cards."
