Banc take credit from valley victory

Saturday for the first game between the sides in many a year.

Banc welcomed back prop Mathew Anderson and flanker Mike Tench and the hosts exploded out of the blocks with Anderson and No8 Chris Jones carrying hard.

Fly half Mathew Lloyd slotted two penalties for a 6-0 lead before a delightful Mathew Brayley chip saw wing Garry Jones outstrip his opposite number for deserved try.

Full back Carwyn Richards, playing on permit showedhis class with several telling breaks and was rewarded with a try after more good work by Jones.

The away team pulled one back with their No8 sprinting away froma maul.

Constant pressure on the visitors try-line saw captain Adrian Pugh go over on the short side to give Banc a half time lead of 23-5.

Penybanc came out in the second half looking to pull away and wing Garry Jones crossed for his second, after great work from centres Brayley and the evergreen Geraint Evans, giving the homesters the all important bonus point. Lloyd converted for a 30-5 lead.

Instead of pushing on from here, Banc seemed to go off the boil and yellow cards for Pugh and Anderson for silly offences cost them dear.

Asthe niggly Alltwen pack started to get into the game, more Banc in-discipline gave the away team penalty after penalty before the away hooker burrowed his way over.

The Tigers still tried hard with centre Evans catching the eye with several clinical breaks.

With seconds to go, Banc tried a move from their own line but a fumble gave the away centre an easy run in fromfive yards out.

Next week, Banc are on the road in Ystradgynlais.
