PANTY maintained their perfect start to the season but were made to work harder than expected by a plucky Mynydd y Garreg side.

Panty started well with Nick James putting them 9-0 ahead after three well struck penalties.

Mynydd y Garreg responded just before half time with a three-pointer to make it 9-3 at the turnaround after Panty were guilty of spurning tryscoring opportunities at least twice.

The second half was a scrappy affair as both sides coughed up possession far too often.

Panty scored on the hour mark through wing Ashley Evans.

Mynydd y Garreg rallied with a score of their own to set up a tense finish with Panty defending for their lives to hold out.

A special mention for Craig Daniels who stepped into the back rowfromfull back for the game with his extra beef helping Panty at scrum time.
