Plymouth College 0 Llandovery College 43

LLANDOVERY College started their rugby season in style when the 1st XV ran in six tries without reply to beat Plymouth College 43-0, writes Huw S Thomas.

The side, captained by former Wales Under-16s scrum half Dan Brooks, made light of the 400-mile round trip to run out convincing winners with a grand second half display from a talented back division.

Plymouth - under former Llandovery College coach RichardEdwards - proved gritty opponents in a competitive first half but centre Owen Howe and scrum half Brooks got converted tries to establish a 14-0 lead for the visitors.

Llandovery went further ahead with a penalty by full back Lloyd Rogers before running in the try of the game.

A Plymouth kick very deep into the Llandovery 22 was fielded by wing Jack Wilson who counter attacked with fly half James Morgan.

Morgan fed the supporting Rogers who slipped the covering defence to draw the full back and put in wing James Phillips.

Home resistance weakened in the last quarter to allow flanker Chris William, Brooks again, and replacement Alex Grey to finish off a limited Plymouth with some ease.
