Penybanc rocked by club double burglary

PENYGROES RFC has been left reeling after the clubhouse was subjected to two burglaries in the space of five days.

On August 26, thieves broke in through fire doors and escaped with a small amount of cash. Days later, thieves again broke in and damaged a gaming machine before leaving with a small amount of cash. The cost of repairs is expected to run to several thousand pounds.

Chairman Derek McAndrew said: “We are absolutely gutted. To suffer one break-in is bad enough, but to suffer two in a week is a major blow.

“The people responsible have no idea of the harm they cause and these events could push the club to closure.”

Anyone with information should contact the police on 101 or speak to any club official in confidence. Anyone who is prepared to help the club’s clean-up or who can offer help should contact Mr McAndrewon 01269 831150.
