Lining up opposite the Pendine Firsts in their second Group D game appeared on paper to be a stiff test for Ammanford’s reserves, but the youngsters turned on the style to show their class. In truth they struggled during the opening minutes and found passing a real problem on the long grass of the uncut pitch.
However, once they found their groove, the visitors began to dominate.
Rhodri Jones saw two headers from Shaun Edwards corners cleared off the line in quick succession before Shaun Williams and Matthew Jones linked well for Ben Jones to give Ammanford a 1-0 advantage heading into the interval.
Ammanford started strongly after the break, with Norrington and Paul Jones creating a number of chances before Ben Jones added his second.
With Ammanford’s defence in impressive form, a long ball over the top sent Jones racing through to complete his hat-trick and put the game all but out of sight.
Ammanford made a treble substitution and Ryan Stephens netted with his first touch off the bench, holding off a defender before blasting into the top corner.
Williams added Ammanford’s fifth and, after Liam Owen did well out wide, Joe Kinsey rounded the keeper to make it six.
Ammanford host Bargoed Rangers on Saturday in the final group game of the Mond Cup, with victory ensuring them a place in the semi-final.
