LLANDYBIE’S first team travelled to Cardiff Castle but went down by five events to one.
Losing combinations on the day were Aled Griffiths and Chris Gray, Iwan Nicholas and Rhodri James along with Matthew Davies and Craig Armstrong, who won one event.
The second string played host to Haverfordwest, losing 4-2.
The pairings of Jonathan and Nathan Thomas, Matthew Rees and Steffan Barnes – making his debut for the club – both lost, while Iwan Nicholas and Chris Harries claimed victory in both their events.
Llandybie Ladies travelled to Haverfordwest, but lost the match by four events to two.
The combination of Chloe Alpine and Gaynor Sutcliffe claimed both Llandybie’s wins. The second pairing was made up of Daphne Jones and Tricia Evans.
The match was sponsored by Doug and Eira Williams.
The club’s next fixtures will see the ladies play host to Aberystwyth while the men’s first team travel to the David Llkoyd Centre, Cardiff, and the seconds go west to Haverfordwest.
Meanwhile, club coaches Matthew Davies and Rhodri James were at Llandybie CP School to offer youngsters aged three to six a series of tennis taster sessions.
Such was the success of the event that the pair will be returning to the school in the coming weeks.
