LLANDYBIE men’s first team hosted Radyr with both teams enjoying unbeaten starts to the season so far, but the visitors came out on top, winning 5-1.
The pairing of Mathew Davies and Craig Armstrong won the one event for Llandybie, and other pairings were Aled Griffiths and Rhodri James and Iwan Nicholas and Rhydian Jones.
This is the first time in the past four seasons that Llandybie have lost to Radyr, but Radyr have attracted highprofile players from Caerphilly and St Fagan’s, whereas Llandybie rely on bringing players through the junior coaching section of the club for its survival at premier league level.
The men’s seconds hosted Llanelli and won the match by nine events to nil.
The father and son combination of Jonathon Thomas and Nathan Thomas won their three events with Nathan, aged 12, winning his first league matches for the club.
The other winning pairs were Iwan Nicholas and Mathew Jones, and Mathew Rees and Anthony Davies.
The ladies’ match away to Glynneath was postponed due to the weather.
Matches were supported by Lloyds TSB Commercial Services.
The next fixtures see the ladies away to Haverfordwest, while the men’s first team travel to Cardiff Castle and the seconds go to Aberaeron.
