Llanelli and District Bowls Cymmer 78 Gwaun cae Gurwen 29.75

THE Waun travelled to Cymmer knowing that they would probably be in a battle as, once again, they found themselves short on each rink.

On a good looking green they got off to a slow start and trailed 18–10 after the first five ends.

Unfortunately things went downhill from there as the home team took advantage of their greater numbers and led 45–17 at ten ends.

With the game being played through without a tea break the Waun were pleased to see the game finishing as they ended up being well beaten by 78–29.75, giving Cymmer the full 14 points on offer.

Next week the Waun have an open date followed by another away game at Briton Ferry Town.

Rink Scores (home skips first) Rink One: M Atyeo 13–10.5 A Thomas; Rink Two: A Atyeo 24–4.5 MJeremiah; Rink Three: N Lewis 27–8 R Lewis; Rink Four: T Watkins 14–6.75 M Morgan.

Though disappointed with the result, the Waun members are determined to keep the club going even if it means that there are several more defeats to come in the coming weeks, while hoping that they are able to enlist some new members in the near future.
