Super showing at sevens

BETWS RFC rounded off the season by sending a side to the Llanelli Warriors Sevens competition.

Despite their inexperience the Super Seconds Seven held their own, but lost their first gameheavily to eventual winners the Bonecrushing Ballerinas.

But the Betws men improved steadily with Liam Williams proving an asset on the wing and Luke Pearse working hard.

Their endeavour earned them a spot in the thirdplace play-off against the hosts.

In an excitingmatch, the Super Seconds Seven went into an early lead through skipper Dale Barfoot but had to withstand a strong comeback before Mathew Sheasbey streaked away for what proved the decisive try.

Slightly more accurate kicking than their hosts eventually saw them run out 24-22 winners.

While the team were happy with third place, hooker Eric Horridge did even better and was named player of the tournament by the referees.
