LOCAL seven-a-side invitation club Carmarthen Warriors - with Ammanford boys Wayne Price and Jamie Davies in the squad - open the new season this Saturday at the Windsor 7s,writes Huw S Thomas.
After their great success last season in winning the Newport, Richmond Rocks and Aberaeron sevens and being runners-up in Majorca and Bath, the squad of local talent - got together by Carmarthen Athletic’s Arwel Davies - will this season be targeting more silverware inside and outsideWales.
Captained by the evergreen Davies and coached by Llandovery’sMarc de Marigny - a former South Africa 7s captain nowsettled inWales - the club continue to offer Carmarthenshire players the chance to compete at a very high level.
AtWindsor, theWarriors will be in a pool that includes the Swedish national sevens team but with some new and exciting faces in the squad, such as Alec Jenkins (Neath), Llandovery flyer Jake Randall and Wales Under-18s centre Ben Roberts (Gower College), their prospects of getting to the latter stages are excellent.
