West Wales Girls League Ammanford Girls U14s 5 Rhos Girls U14s 1

ON a sunny Sunday morning, Ammanford went into this game needing a win to ensure they kept their grip on second place.

And the hosts started the better, grabbing an early goal through Chantal, who finished superbly.

They refused to rest on their laurels and earned a second after good play from Lucy and Nia to set up Chantal to double her tally.

Ammanford’s third came from Cathryn, who blasted the ball into the net after a powerful run through the visiting defence.

But Rhos refused to give up and eanred a penalty late on in the first half, which was calmly dispatched.

The second half started with Rhos attacking, but the defence of Maya, Ffion, Caitlin and Rachel tackled and battled well to maintain the 3-1 advantage.

Goalkeeper Ayesha made a string of quality saves, including one fantastic stop which saw her diving to her left to tip the ball away with an outstretched finger.

The game stayed 3-1 for the majority of the second half until Ffion won possession for Grace who smashed a powerful shot into the bottom corner.

The fifth and final Ammanford goal of the game came after a powerful and well-controlled run by Lowri who crossed for Chantal to complete her hat-trick and round off a well-deserved win for the hosts.

Ammanford remain in second place with three key games remaining.
