LLANDEILO claimed their third consecutive victory after a bitterly contested derby against rivals Towy Valley.

A confident start from the home side gave a clear inpression of the shape of things to come, with a strong defence and well-organised midfield pushing Llandeilo forward at every opportunity as the homesters went in search of the allimportant opener.

There were limited chances from both teams but the few opportunities created were spurned until Alun Jones picked up a loose ball in the final third and produced a fine chipped pass into the path of Nick Miller.

Miller coolly collected and finished smartly after a great first touch.

Valley almost equalised just a few minutes later but for a brilliant block on the line by Nathanial Wilson before Llandeilo took control in the final stages of the half on a heavy pitch.

Ben Jones and Daniel Crayford troubled the visiting full backs all afternoon, with their pace and finesse creating a number of spurned opportunities to double the lead.

Valley finally hit back after the break, when a long throw was flicked on at the near post before being headed past an inform Simon Rees in the Llandeilo net.

The away side went close again moments later, when the ball whipped across the sixyard box but no-one was on hand to poke home.

With time running out Dafydd Thomas battled for Lee Hall’s clipped cross and the ball fell to the left foot of Town skipper Jones, who slotted home with ease.

Vaughn Matthews terrorised the left flank all afternoon with a series of terrific runs, but was unfortunate to see his good work go unrewarded.

The visitors surged forward in the latter stages but tireless Llandeilo remained organised and well-drilled to prevent the equaliser.

The hosts ended the game with a Jones free kick that left the defence flapping and saw the ball creep in at the far corner to secure the victory.
