RECENT fixtures between these sides have invariably seen the away side prosper and this time it was Bryn’s turn to fall as Morriston deservedly claimed the spoils.

Playing with the elements the visitors exerted all the early pressure and were soon rewarded with two penalties for a 6-0 lead.

Although the remainder of the first half was an evenly contested affair, Bryn fell further behind just before the break when the visitors took full advantage of the Greens’ misfiring line-out to steal possession and break clear for the game’s first try.

With a successfully landed conversion, Morriston secured a 13-0 half-time lead.

Bryn finally got into gear as the second half started and following a sustained onslaught in the visitors’ 22, wing Kevin Walsh cut inside at pace eluding the cover defence for a well taken try.

Outside half Peter Thomas slotted the extras as Bryn roared back into the game.

A further penalty for the visitors then followed but this was soon cancelled out as Thomas replied in similar manner for Bryn to take the scores to 16-10.

The Greens then produced their best period of the match and from a quick tap penalty deep in their own half an inspired sweeping movement was crowned as flanker Joel Spurway squeezed home for Bryn’s second try.

Peter Thomas’ exceptional touchline conversion edged Bryn ahead at 17-16 as hopes were raised for a home win.

But the hopes were soon to evaporate as the visitors added another two penalties to lead 22-17 with only minutes remaining.

Throwing caution to the wind Bryn went all out for a defining score but were ultimately caught out on the counter attack as the visitors crossed for their second try to claimed a 27-17 victory.
