Ammanford AFC start the new season with a new management team following the departure of Phil Fisher.

After being in charge for four years, Fisher and his right-hand man Neil O'Brien have been replaced by Craig Maloney and assistants Griff Harrison and Lee Balbini.

On the playing front, only four of last year's first team squad remain and the emphasis this year will be on giving local talent a chance to shine in the highly competitive Welsh League.

The club received numerous applications for the post of first team manager, but was impressed by Craig's enthusiasm, determination and fresh ideas to positively promote the club.

Craig is of course far more famous in Ammanford for his exploits on the cricket field, but fans must remember he was an ever-present in the hugely successful Llanelli youth side and has also represented at Ammanford at Welsh League level.

Similarly, Griff and Lee both have experience of playing in the Welsh League, Griff with Ammanford and Lee at Porth AFC.

Once again, the administration of the club will remain in the capable hands of John Thomas, who has been elected onto the Welsh League Executive Committee - topping the poll with 42 votes.

As with all similar organisations, financial stability continues to play an important role in the future of Ammanford AFC and the club is always on the look out for sponsors and other revenue streams to help it achieve its aims.

The club's reserve side will begin the new season in the Carmarthenshire League and will also be managed by a new team, led by the highly respected Graham Noakes, assisted by Paul Langstone and James Conway.

Attendance at pre-season training, which is held every Tuesday and Thursday evening, has been very encouraging so far and any player who would like to join the club is welcome to attend. However, the club as a whole is under no illusions that success both on and off the field will only occur if there is a committed effort by players and committee alike.

The season opens on August 13 with a home league fixture againast Newport YMCA. The reserves begin their campaign on September 3.

At a junior level, the club has entered teams at U12, U13, U14, U15 and U16 in the Carmarthenshire Junior League.

The club aims to positively promote the game in a safe environment and offer coaching under the guidance of qualified WFA coaches. To this end, the club operates a 'turn up and play' policy to ensure that those wishing to take part have every opportunity to do so.
