Llandovery College landed an incredible medal haul at the Welsh Rowing Championships held in Cardiff earlier this month.

Paris Theodosiou and Steffan Evans scooped gold and silver in the Under 17s race respectively while William Edwards came home in third spot in the Under 18 race.

Beth Hope-Bell meanwhile finished a creditable fourth in the Under 16 category.

The result is fantastic return for the college, particularly as there is no practice "flat river" in an area where white water kayaking is more the norm. However the group has been training in the gym under the watchful eye of conditioning coach Martin Jones. Jones himself recently came third in the S4C competition to find the fittest man and woman in Wales. The trip to Cardiff is just one part of the sports enhancement plan from new Director of Sport Clare Flowers.

"This is wonderful result, far beyond our immediate expectations," she said.

"It is a testament to the ethos we teach which is about determination and effort for our sports men and women. "They and their coaches have put in the groundwork, and what we have seen here today is a terrific set of results."
