After last weeks’ debacle against Tycroes, forward coach Roy James was in no mood for a repeat performance and a few well chosen words clearly had the desired effect because Llandybie had an excellent first half.
With the pitch in perfect condition, Llandybie’s forwards did well to boss the opening exchanges and their superiority was complemented when captain Robert Goodfellow put them in front with an excellent penalty after offside infringement.
Centre Richard Davies sliced through and put left winger Daniel Davies in space.
Davies used his pace to round the full-back for a brilliant corner try.
Llandybie were good value for their eight-point lead at half time, but Crynant crept back into the game after the interval when flanker Jason Pugh finished off a well organised rolling maul with a try in the right hand corner, the conversion failed.
With Llandybie causing their supporters some anxious moments it was captain Goodfellow who settled the nerves with another penalty for a late tackle.
Next home game sees Llandybie’s Scottish visitors Grangemouth make their customary visit on Friday, February 12, kick off 3pm.
