Llanelli Snooker League Round-Up by Byron Evans


Llandybie Social Club A posted a useful 5-2 home victory over Pontarddulais Cons A in the Llanelli Snooker League First Division.

On winning form for Llandybie were Wyn Major, Vivian Carrod, Peter Howatson and Steve Ward. Paul Doughton and Andrew Morgan won for the visitors.

Elsewhere Nigel Morgan, Glenn Williams, Craig Edwards and Wayne Bowen gave Bryn and Trallwm a similar 5-2 success at Llanesco B, who replied through Anthony Pritchard and Scott Jones.

Also winners were Phil Lloyd, Lee Evans, Luke Lloyd and Sean Keenan for Llanesco A who won 5-2 at Penygroes RFC. For the rugby club, Rhydian Jones and Marc Walters contributed points.

In Division Two, New Lodge A won 4-3 on aggregate at Llanelli Liberal Club thanks to Roy Wilcox, Lee Burder and Phil Thickett. Marshall Butler, Mike Moore and captain Roger Griffiths were on cue for the Liberals.

Keiran Proctor, Richard Rees, Peter Jones and Curtis Elliott gave Carway A a 5-2 win against Llanelli Cons A, who hit back via B Lewis and Peter Rowlands.

Andrew Matthews Wood, Rhodri Llewelyn and Paul Landek won for CGMD, beaten 4-3 on aggregate by Llandeilo Hall whose winning trio were Eric Stevens, Tim Walters and Dai Lewis.

In Division Three, Darren Williams, Ashley Weymes, Darren Thorne and Dudor Lloyd gave Gorseinon Workmen’s B a 5-2 victory over Upper Tumble Reds, whose replies came from Chris Salisbury and John Williams.

Pontarddulais Cons B were grateful to Steve Williams, Phil Evans, Nathan Evans and Hugh Williams, all winners in a 5-2 win over Llandybie Social B. Alun Jones and Peter Rees replied.

Andrew John starred with a fine 52 break for leaders Llwchwr in the Bug’s 6-1 victory over Cross Hands C. Team-mates Nick Phillips, Steve Dunn, Leigh Lewis and Rob Williams also won.

Dan Simons’ frame win saved Cross Hands from a whitewash.
