LTC Mobility Division 1 Llandeilo continued their unbeaten run by coming from two goals down to earn a draw, but they could easily have taken all three points.

Once again they dropped their guard in the first ten minutes, allowing Ponthenri to score a soft goal. This spurred the hosts on and they created chance after chance, Keith Dainton, Dafydd Thomas and Daniel Crayford all going very close.

With only twenty minutes gone, Llandeilo again allowed space to Ponthenri who got inside Llandeilo’s 18-yard box. With the sticky conditions underfoot, the Llandeilo goal keeper with no chance of stopping Ponthenri’s second goal. This didn’t seem to phase Llandeilo, however, and they carried on with their game plan, continuing to push forward and creating scoring opportunities. After some good work by Simon Saddler, who is showing his desire to get back to his best, he produced a perfect pass in front of the energetic Dainton, who left the defence flat-footed before being fouled.

The resulting free-kick, on the edge of box, led to Llandeilo’s first goal when Dafydd Thomas unleashed a power drive and Mark Swindells got his head low down on the ball and directed it into the net. As the second half got under way, Ponthenri’s discipline fell apart. With both teams seeking another goal, tempers flared and yellow cards were issued by the referee. Shortly after, the first of three sendings off took place when the visitors were reduced to ten men.

Llandeilo made a substitution, sending on Jason Smith whose fresh legs pepped Llandeilo’s attack, and in the 75th-minute he rose and directed a header high into the Ponthenri net for the equaliser.

There was now all to play for, but once again indiscipline let Ponthenri down and another player was sent off for misconduct. Ponthenri held on for dear life and Llandeilo could not get the winning goal. Just before the end a misjudged tackle by a Llandeilo player resulted in the third sending-off of the game. Unfortunately the final whistle blew with neither team getting the winning goal, despite Llandeilo putting immense pressure on Ponthenri.

However, the game showed that Llandeilo, by continuing to believe in their game plan, are a force to be reckoned with and will be contenders for promotion.
