The derby match between Tycroes RFC and Amman United RFC was a basement battle in a close game.
The Admiral WRU Divison 2 West clash held at the Cae Gelli grounds on Saturday afternoon, settled with a 15-7 victory for Tycroes and a hint of relief from potential relegation.
Both teams had started the game amid their own struggles - Amman United suffering from an ongoing player crisis and a 70-7 hammering by Lampeter and Tycroes dangerously close to relegation.
A vocal crowd had enjoyed probably the season's most favourable weather as Amman United opened the contest with a try.
However, Tycroes swiftly answered with a try just before half time.
Tycroes manipulated the second half in their favour, garnering the most possession and scoring another try, which was duly converted.
This upswing in performance sealed Tycroes their victory.
Amman United, marked by a punishing end-of-season schedule, have six more games to play and are likely to drop down to league 3 in the 2024-25 season, currently bottom of the league with just four points.
On the other hand, Tycroes, now in 11th place, stand three points below Nantgaredig with a game in hand.
