MORE than 250 people braved the horrendous weather on New Year's Eve to take on a 10-mile race in Llandeilo.

The runners braved the wind and rain for the morning races – with the option of the 10-mile course over hills or the shorter, but still challenging 10K race – where they set off from the sports facilities in Ffairfach.

The overall 10-mile winner was Dewi Griffiths from Swansea Harriers club who completed the course in 53 minutes, 32 seconds. In second place was Amman Valley Harriers’ Rob Davies in one hour and 25 seconds.

The first female to cross the finish line was Swansea Harriers’ Caryl Edwards in one hour, two minutes and 58 seconds, coming in fifth place overall.

The winner of the 10K race was Zack Bowen-Rees who completed the course in 40 minutes and 10 seconds. In second place was Mai Davies from Swansea Harriers. She completed the course in 40 minutes and 56 seconds.

Runners and spectators were able to warm up with The Whitford Coffee Company providing refreshments near the finish line.
