A smashing weekend of tennis

Llandybie Tennis Club's men's first and second teams were in action at the weekend and both lost their matches by six events to three events.

The men's first team were away to Bridgend tennis club on Sunday with each of the pairings of Craig Armstrong and Aled Griffiths; Rhydian Jones and Matthew Davies; and Emyr Nicholas and Dan Zammitt winning one event apiece.

The men's second team played at home on Saturday against Llandeilo.

The weather conditions were atrocious but the match finished with a victory to Llandeilo.

The last-round matches could have had the result going to any team with each event going to third-set tie breaks, and both teams showed great determination.

For the record, Llandybie pairings of captain Jonathon Thomas and Iwan Nicholas won two events; Thomas Griffith and Jonathon Harries won one event; and losing their events were the pairing of Graham Bettiss and Matthew Meredith.

Weekend matches were supported by Garden of Eden.

This weekend the ladies' team are home to Haverfordwest.

The men's first team are home to Aberaeron Tennis Club and the men's second team are away to the Neath and Glamorgan Health and Racquet Club.
