DIVISION 3 West champions Ammanford finished their wonderful season off in style when they became the only club in the league to do the double on a strong Llanybydder side.
Ammanford were the first to get on the scoresheet when outside half Mathew Lloyd put over a 30m penalty.
The visitors kept up the pressure but handling errors by the threequarters prevented certain tries.
After half an hour, wing Nathan Jenkins used his pace to kick ahead the loose ball with flanker Shaun Miles joining the attack to touch down, Lloyd converted.
With the pack going strong, veteran props Daryl Morgan and Aled Griffiths dominating the scrum.
Ammanford held the upper hand and with captain Mark Jones ruling the lineout and some charging runs from Simon Williams, their lead was increased with Gary Stephens crossing for his 24th try of the season.
Minutes later, Miles took a quick penalty and crossed over only for the ref to call play back.
Despite an 18-0 lead, any thoughts the champions had an easy win were quickly forgotten as five minutes into the second half, Llan'fly half put over a 35m penalty.
Within minutes, excellent handling by the home forwards saw their hooker cross over to cut the lead to 18-10.
A lengthy period of pressure saw Llan edge back when their full back broke through to cross over.
But Ammanford showed why they are the top side in Division 3 west and showed their class when from a move in their own 22m, back rower Rhodri Danter set off on a 50m run which was finished off by Miles.
Lloyd again converted to increase the lead to 25-15.
With ten minutes to go, Llanybydder threw everything at the champions and were rewarded with a third try to bring the score to 25-22.
The man of the match award went to Rhodri Danter.
There will be a players BBQ at the clubhouse next Saturday, everyone welcome.
