Cwm end season with defeat

10:20am Wednesday 7th May 2008

Relegated Cwmgors finished off their league programme on Saturday, ending a disappointing season with a last-day defeat to Llanelli Wanderers.

With Pembroke and Amman United also in the mire,Wanderers need points from their final two matches, against Aberystwyth (tonight), and against Pembroke on Saturday in another crunch game which will decide things.

Wanderers were the better side on the day, crossing for six tries in total.

They led 15-0 at half time at Parc-y-Werin but Cwmgors' bad luck continued, their injury crisis deepening when they lost winger Carl Carter to an early hamstring injury.

To make matters worse, his replacement Andrew Davies soon joined him on the sidelines with another injury as the jinx continued.

Cwm did have sporadic opportunities with two passes dropped with the tryline in sight, but they did manage to grab a consolation try when following an incisive break, centre Jordan Davies broke through to touch down in the corner.
